Why is Testing & Tagging Important?

Testing and tagging is important because it helps ensure the safety of electrical equipment and reduces the risk of electric shocks, electrocution and electrical fires. Regular testing and tagging of electrical equipment identifies any faults or damage that may have occurred, such as frayed cords, exposed wires or damaged insulation. This helps prevent equipment from malfunctioning or causing harm to people, property or the environment.

Testing and tagging is also a legal requirement in Queensland and failure to comply may result in fines and legal liabilities. The frequency of testing and tagging depends on the type and environment of the equipment, but in general, it should be conducted at least once every 6-12 months. To make sure your test and tag is up to date we keep your appliance register on file and can offer a reminder service in advance of expiry date.
